Handcrafted Textiles and Workshops

I'm Pippa, the founder of Studio Florae. I have always had a deep love of textiles, sewing and illustration - which lead me to study printed textiles at university; though 5 years later than everyone else my age.

I put it off, as the fashion and textile industry appalled me as I began educating myself on the environmental affects it was having, and I did not see how I could become a part of what was destroying our planet. However... I still loved textiles, continued to love textiles and print design. So I finally decided to get my degree.

It was so important to me to figure out a sustainable way to be a part of this industry but also create handcrafted textiles that I loved. Luckily at the time, I had an allotment.. So I merged my two passions - Plants and Textile design. I began experimenting with natural dyeing, then figured out how to make 100% plant-based screen printing pastes. That was over 6 years ago and my love for natural dyeing and screen printing is still growing.

Studio Florae is more than making products and printing textiles - it is bringing back an ancient craft, one that has been deeply rooted in our evolution as human beings. Fibre and textiles have always been a huge part of civilisation and bringing communities together, an aspect we have lost within industrialisation. I want to bring people together, provide insight, joy and hope back into our communities.
